Job Description
Reporting to the Director of Operations, this entry level Relationship Associate role will be a member of both the Commercial and Agricultural Real Estate Teams and is at the heart of each transaction. This team member will help collect financials, preliminarily review and analyze items received, maintain and organize files, and ensure the smooth and timely progression of each transaction from start to finish. This team member is a trusted point of contact who borrowers will rely on, and our team will depend on.
The team members must be very well organized, have attention to detail, thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, have strong communication skills, and are able to manage several competing priorities at the same time. The position requires analytical organization, and written communication skills.
There are no business development responsibilities required but are available for personal and professional growth. In addition, you will collaborate closely with Relationship Managers (“RM’s”) and Credit Analysts (“CA’s”) as part of the deal team to ensure that each transaction is closed by the required deadline with no delays.
Responsibilities
• Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for borrowers and partners on several loans at once - handling questions, requests, and ongoing communication with professionalism, warmth, and timeliness for new and existing loans.
• Collect, organize, and review borrower financial packages (tax returns, rent rolls, operating statements, entity financials) in a timely manner and flag any items requiring RM or credit team attention.
• Assist in Reviewing and Complete Schedules of Real Estate Owned.
• Communicate and problem-solve daily with teammates.
• Assist with the origination and closing process - ordering title, engaging escrow, ordering appraisal bids, engaging appraisals and any other third-party reports, and tracking conditions to close.
• Maintain and ensure that information pertaining to each deal in CRM software and tracking tools accurately reflects the status of the deals, current exhibits, important communication, and any outstanding issues and resolution.
• Run point on the loan servicing post-close. This includes payment tracking, draw requests, payoff calculations, loan modifications, and ongoing borrower correspondence.
• Proactively monitor all loan covenants – ensure compliance and trigger collection of required documentation well ahead of deadlines by issuing notices and maintaining communication with borrowers.
Qualifications
• Strong Interest in Real Estate and Business Finance.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with Agricultural and Commercial Real Estate Concepts.
• Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point etc.)
• You can read a financial statement, understand basic accounting concepts, and easily detect discrepancies.
• Time management skills, reflecting the ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously while delivering work product on time.
• Ability to solve problems using the provided resources.
• Ability to work effectively with team members across the company to manage internal and external borrower relationships.
• Possess excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and presentation skills, including ability to train and present to small and large audiences or has the interest in learning to train and present.
• You communicate clearly and make borrowers feel like partners, not file numbers.
• You are proactive and stay ahead of deadlines ensuring nothing is overlooked.
• You like creating order (i.e. checklists, trackers, processes) and you enjoy creating efficiency the entire team benefits from.
• Bachelor’s Degree in business, economics, finance, accounting, or equivalent work experience, required.
