Job Description

We are looking for a "hunter-like mindset" with an entrepreneurial spirit who is seeking an opportunity to have uncapped earning potential and loves to win for themselves and their clients.

A team member that is well organized and energized by the chase: someone who wakes up thinking about winning and uses data to create a sales strategy to build a pipeline with assistance and mentorship from Senior Leadership and has a sense of urgency.

Reporting to Senior Sales and Credit Leadership, this highly productive sales role will be a key member of the Commercial Real Estate Sales Production Team. This role builds and manages referral relationships, guides borrowers through the lending process, identifies the appropriate structure and product, and collaborates with internal and external teams to ensure deal execution. The CRE Business Development Officer (BDO) plays a key role in driving loan growth, expanding client relationships, and representing the organization in the business community.

This team member must thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, be well networked in the community and industry and have strong communication skills.

The candidate must comply with all lending regulations for BSA, AML and KYC.

Key Responsibilities

Originate new business. Proactively identify, prospect, and close borrowers seeking real estate secured financing across agricultural and commercial real estate asset classes.

  • Build and own a COI network. Develop and maintain relationships with residential and commercial real estate brokers, bankers and other lenders, CPAs, attorneys, and other COI referral sources across the territory.

  • Work the phone and the road. Spend the majority of your time in direct outreach (cold calling, warm introductions, COI lunches, industry networking events), not relying on inbound leads.

  • Manage a live pipeline. Track prospects, referral sources, and deals in motion; report weekly on pipeline volume, stage, and conversion.

  • Qualify and structure at a high level. Understand basic deal economics (LTV, DSCR, cash flow, collateral quality and location) well enough to screen opportunities and position PACT competitively before handing off to processing, underwriting and credit.

  • Represent the brand. Be a credible, polished ambassador for PACT Capital at industry conferences, trade shows, and CRE events.

  • Close the loop with Credit and Ops. Partner closely with the credit team to shepherd deals from first conversation to funded loan, keeping communication tight so PACT's single-point-of-contact promise to the borrowing relationship holds true.

  • Feed market intelligence back to leadership. Surface competitive insights, pricing trends, and borrower pain points from the field.

Qualifications

  • A genuine hunter mentality: comfortable with cold outreach, rejection, and grinding a territory until it produces.

  • Self-starter who thrives with autonomy and minimal hand-holding; entrepreneurial, low-ego, high-accountability.

  • Existing network or credible ability to build one quickly across California and Western U.S. real estate, CRE, or private credit circles.

  • Working knowledge of real estate and lending fundamentals (senior secured debt, bridge, collateral analysis, and other basic underwriting and credit concepts).

  • Strong presence: able to sit across the table from a borrower, broker, or family-owned operation and earn trust fast.

  • Willingness to travel regularly within the territory.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; will weigh relevant experience heavily over credentials.

  • Credit underwriting or analysis experience preferred, but not required.

  • Proficient in cash flow analysis and calculation of NOI and EBITDA.

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Familiarity with commercial real estate concepts.

  • Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).

  • Demonstrated time management skills, reflecting the ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously while delivering work product on time.

  • Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups across the company to manage internal and external customer relationships.

  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and presentation skills, including the ability to train and present to small and large audiences, or an interest in learning to train and present.
